Some people say that video games are healthy for kids, others say they harm them? What is your opinion?

Video-games have the potential to capture children’s minds. I definitely agree with era-related games. The last Metal Gear Solid was based around the time of the start of the Cold War, right after WWII and in some aspects related to WII. Myself as an adult can’t avoid the increased interesting this era thanks to a video-game.

I think too much of anything is not welcome. It has to be checked if it is just too much. Now the question is how much is too much? If anything goes beyond normal then there must be some check.

Video games are good because they do help with hand eye coordination, but only in moderation. No kid should be on the computer for hours on end just playing video games. That is unhealthy.

Anything in excess is harmful but when done in moderation I donot think the games are harmful.

If it's played in moderation, I don't see it posing a health problem, over playing it becomes the problem.

depending on the types of games and how often they play them, they can be harmful.somepeople just shouldnt judge video games till they actually play a few. most who are against it really have no idea what they are talking about. not every game is violent, but those types get alot of attention in the media.

dont have a choice but it harms a lot...like children are getting self centered and no social life,no activity.

Well depending on the video game they are fine as long as the child dosen't spend more time playing games than studying. My children probably play around 5 hours a week. But I try to get games that will be fun and teach at the same time. Video games can teach you children some good things such as good hand eye coordination, multitasking, solving, stratigies and so on.

I don't really have much of a sway either way. i'm a gamer chick, I grew up on super mario brothers, duck hunt, and metroid. I love video games. I think that children should be regulated on which games they play because some games are not appropriate for children. And as long as it does not keep them from studying & as long as they have other social activieties & friends they associate with I see no harm in video games.

I think they can be fine if they are not playing them all the time .. and not getting homework done or other chores. If a child is wrapped up in video games too much how would they learn and be social!
