I don't think so. Atheists don't believe in God period, or that's my understanding.

yes atheists have the mistake of confusing god with religion do you kmow deism Deism is a religious philosophy and movement that became prominent in England, France, and the United States in the 17th and 18th centuries. Deists typically reject supernatural events (prophecy, miracles) and divine revelation prominent in organized religion, along with holy books and revealed religions that assert the existence of such things. Instead, deists hold that correct religious beliefs must be founded on human reason and observed features of the natural world, and that these sources reveal the existence of one God or supreme being.

So, you're saying that atheists are Diests without realizing it? As an atheist, I disagree. I'm an atheist rather than a Diest, because I don't see any reason to fit something God-related into my world view. I can, however, think of many reasons why people might do so. For example: 1) They were raised to believe in God, but have loved ones who will fall apart if it's ever discovered they've stopped believing, so they offer them a watered down version of a god-belief, that borders on atheism without being atheism. 2) They were raised to believe in God, but as they stopped believing, they struggled with having to give up some of the benefits their belief used to give them. Diesm eases the transition. 2) They have some inner sense of there being some greater power underlying the natural world. According to recent research, there may be an innate tendancy toward belief in a higher power in many humans. Someone with such a biological tendancy will be a Diest, while one without will likely be an atheist.

I'm an atheist, and I would venture to guess that the majority of us are educated enough to know the difference. It's possible to follow a religion or a spiritual path without belief in God. It's possible to believe in God, but not to belong to an organized religion. It's possible not to have a spiritual bone in one's body, and not to believe in God, or follow a reglion. I'm in the latter category.

It has been known for some people to confuse god with religion. Even though i don't confuse the two myself.
