Home treatment for tendonitis and bursitis include:
rest the area
do not do what gave you the tendonitis in the first place
if swollen, ice packs to relieve the swelling
heat can be used when there is no swelling
anti-inflamatories for pain (Advil, Nuprin, Motrin, Aleve, ibuprofen)
If pain persists more than 2 weeks, medical attention should be sought as splinting or casting may be necessary. I had tendonitis a years ago and my foot had to be casted because nothing got rid of the pain.
For bursitis, deep icing may be required. When I had bursitis, I had to use deep icing twice a day. (I'm an R.N.)

Are you sure it is tendonitis? You might want to get a test for carpal tunnel. I had it in my right wrist they sugury a couple yrs ago and I am fine.

Hmmm...could be! I hurt it from getting up off the bare ground before our furniture came here. I have a bad back so I kept putting all of my weight on my left hand/wrist to get up. After a couple weeks of doing it it started hurting and never stopped. I guess it could be akin to years of typing...makes sense. Thanks for the idea!
