2. Noot54 (4441) | 2 years ago | I liked the band - 'Just can't get enough' does it for me! Depeche Mode are a highly influential English electronic music band formed in 1980 in Basildon, Essex. They are one of the longest-lived and most successful bands to have emerged from the New Wave and New Romantic era, but were actually part of the "futurist" scene, alongside the likes of Soft Cell, Gary Numan and The Human League. Many of their videos have been in heavy rotation on MTV. As of 2006, it was estimated that Depeche Mode has sold over 73 million albums worldwide and has had forty-four songs in the UK Singles Chart. They have had more top 40 hits in the UK without a #1 hit than any other artist. They have influenced many of today's popular recording artists, in part due to their recording techniques and use of sampling. Though very influential in the modern electronic dance scene, they remain generally classified in the alternative genre. Depeche Mode was founded in 1980 by David Gahan (lead vocals), Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, vocals, chief songwriter after 1981), Andrew Fletcher (keyboards) and Vince Clarke (keyboards, chief songwriter 1980—81). Vince Clarke left the band after the release of their 1981 debut album; soon replaced by Alan Wilder (lead keyboards, occasional drums, backing vocals, producer), who played with the band from 1982 to 1995. After Wilder's departure, Gahan, Gore, and Fletcher continue to perform as a trio.

5. alamode (1838) | 1 year ago | I may be their oldest fan--- I haven't missed a concert performance in a very long time, and also saw Dave's 'Paper Monsters' show, which I thought was great! The latest I've heard is that DM WILL be touring next year for their new album 'Hourglass'... I wish Dave was doing another appearance for his new solo album 'Kingdom', too, but then I'm very greedy..... My favorite DM song is the one I'm listening to right now, and the one before it, and the one after it!

| 7. helpingmomsathome (63) | 1 year ago | "Playing the Angel" is an awesome album! Depeche Mode is my all-time favorite band. I've been a fan since 1985. I have to say my favorite song right now is "I Feel Loved". I especially love the video (Dave's hot)! Some of my other faves are Precious, Policy of Truth, World in My Eyes and Stripped, but I like tons others. I see them in concert everytime they come to the DC/Virginia area and can't wait for them to come back. I'm guessing the pic is from "Barrel of a Gun", but it's definitly from that time frame based on Dave's appearance.

8. Metallideth (355) | 1 year ago | Actually, I do kind of like Depeche Mode. I never really listen to them, nor do I have any of their stuff, but from what I have heard (my mom is a big fan), they had some pretty cool stuff. Metal is more of my kind of thing, but some of that '80s new wave stuff defnitely has its appeal.
