| looking for anybody who can tell me what exactly is 'chlorella'!? it's driving me batty not knowing!i ate chlorella ramyun (ramen), and still don't know what i ate!!! i assume it's a plant extract but can't find any info on it. i'm wondering if it's healthy or just used for coloring ...because the ramyun noodles did not taste like anything in particular...so i doubt the chlorella has much flavor. | | chlorella ramyun noodles | | | | |

| | you're awesome!!!! proves there are some people on mylot with brains and willing to contribute amazing and useful responses :) thanks so much, i was sure i would get zero responses :) so, according to what you've said, i'm thinking the color of these noodles might actually be food color...or do you think the chlorella has that potent a color to be able to dye the ramen that strongly? and you said they are generally used as a health supplement. do you know what benefits in particular the chlorella provides? | | | |

| | for the sake of a response.. 'it is an algae' also, thanks to what i read, i now have to read up more on algae, which seems uncannily (and discomfortingly) similar to moss and other weird green stuff!! where are my brownie points? | | | | | | |

| | similar to moss and other weird stuff, um, yup ;) though i believe algae as such grows inside water, lichen on woody plantlife such as trees, and moss on surfaces of rocks, including in or near water (but algae grows deeper in water i believe). though you've given me an idea...algae brownies! :b | | | |

| | oooh.. by the way, did you know that lichen can only grow if they are surrounded by a clean environment and not otherwise? apparently that's something to look out for if you're particularly sensitive to air pollution.. pretty cool, huh? | | | |

| | hmm, strange but true? :) i wonder how many responses we`d get if we started a discussion about lichen!?!? (pretty ridiculous but you never know!) | | | |

| | Just to show I have Firefox and a dictionary lol Any of various unicellular green algae of the genus Chlorella, easily cultured and often used in studies of photosynthesis and other experiments. From my own gray matter... Probably the most abundant and basic form of renewable foodstuff/energy on the planet. A major driving force for life on Earth. | | | |
