i think if u really wanna trek then try doing it in the himalayas of north india . u wud find the most panoramic views of glaciers and the mountain ranges only there .
i wud suggest that u start with trekking to triund in himachal pradesh . triund is perched high above maclodeganj that is near dharamshala . u wud have access to the snowline there which u just can't imagine in the western ghats or shahdaris.
