Struggling with Materialism.  

I'm not a very material person. As long as I'm able to have a roof over my head, the bills paid and food on the table, I'm very content.

I think its normal for you to be happy with material things. Its just perfectly normal for an human being to be happy to have some things to own. We are human beings therefore we are living in a material world. Because of this reason, humans like us would also want to have a possession of material things. So there is nothing wrong with you. Enjoy your life and be happy of what you have and what you can get. Good luck and have a nic day ahead.

Speaking from a Buddhist point of view, the desire itself is what depresses you, and what you must do is simply meditate the desire out of your life. Practically speaking, I've found a good way to get rid of materialistic desire is to try to realize that the things I desire won't actually make me happy. Then, I want them, but I don't desire them, and that actually makes a huge difference to both my mood, and my ability to resist actually getting unnecessary things.

YOu only go around once and you cant take it with you so you might as well spend it. Materialism is not necessarily a dirty word.

I'm kind of the same way, but when it comes to that I end up trying to make a few extra bucks elsewhere to pay for stuff. I mean I've learned the hard way to get pulled into paying for something and then coming up short when I owe someone some money. Now I just think about something else whenever I see something thats way out of my range, and wait for the price to drop or save up for it. Making a few extra bucks on-line with sites like myLot can help you solve this problem, just try as hard as you can to learn to be patient. Don't by the cheaper stuff just because you can't wait. You'll love yourself for it later!

u shouldn't be .. !! thatz what will make u happy !

i wont say yhat i dont like material things,i do like.but yes im not obsessed.because i belive there is a proper time for everything.i really love shopping but if i dont have money i can wait and try to earn money to fulfill my desire.i will never adopt any wrong way to fulfill my desires but its also true that i want to make money to fulfil my and my family desires.and im waiting for that time.is there anything wrong im doing?

i love nice things; & if that means spending money then
i'll do it. i dont do it that often though but when i do
i research everything! & then buy it, unless its like im in the mall & i fall inlove with something lol then i'll think about it for a second & get i might give in to it.

Maybe you should always convinced your self that it is not actually what you need and try to focus on some other things like playing, surfing the net so your mind wont think those things you want to buy.

you can look at this problem from many points of view.The first:is the $130 pair boot makes something more special like $30 boots?both are boots and have the same quality :to keep u not be frozen.The other point of view:if somebody will look to your boots will notice that u have a cheaper pair of boots and knowing that u can afford an expensive one ,will consider u a man who doent like to spend money.So depends on your thinking about what people may say about u.U reallu need it and feel good with $130 boots and afford too?Go and take it!If u cannot afford ,dont let your desires to make u poor !
