| Dog the Bounty Hunter hearing rescheduled Chapman could be freed or extradited to Mexico in 2003 capture of rapist The court hearing for Duane ‘Dog’ Chapman, star of the reality series ‘Dog, the Bounty Hunter,’ has been pushed back to Dec. 22. He faces up to four years in prison if convicted on deprivation-of-liberty charges in Mexico. Updated: 12:49 p.m. ET Dec 8, 2006 HONOLULU - A court hearing in Mexico that could drop charges against TV bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman or order his criminal case to proceed has been rescheduled for Dec. 22. The hearing was to begin Monday in Guadalajara but was postponed because a report from a lower court was not received. The 53-year-old star of the A&E reality series “Dog the Bounty Hunter” is charged under Mexican law with deprivation of liberty for his June 2003 capture of convicted rapist Andrew Luster, the Max Factor heir, in Puerto Vallarta. Luster is serving a 124-year prison term. Chapman's attorney, William Bollard, will present arguments in Mexico, and Chapman is not expected to attend the closed hearing. Chapman was arrested Sept. 14 along with his son and another associate and is free on $300,000 bail. He has been fighting extradition. He faces up to four years in a Mexican jail if convicted. The capture of Luster shot the Honolulu-based bounty hunter to fame and led to the TV series. Luster's disappearance set off an international manhunt by police, FBI and bounty hunters trying to recoup some of the bond money. Luster is now serving a 124-year prison term. | | | | | |

| | Well i think he shouldnt be charged to begin with. I dont understand how they can press charges on him but yet they did not turn over the convicted rapist Andrew Luster. Its ok for them to keep the criminals safe there but yet when we go and take that individual, they want to press charges? Luster wasnt even a Mexican citizen. Makes no sense to me at all.++ | | | | | | |

| | Well, Dog gets on my nerves sometimes but I do not think he deserves to go to jail. I know he should not have broken the law, even for a good cause, but I know of alot of people who get off for alot bigger crimes. I think a fine and maybe probation would be ok, but jail, no way. I think our tax money should go toward putting away real crimenals. | | | | | | |

| | They should let him off, he has done so much good and although the TV does make some of it up he does put a lot of scum away. If he is found guilty then the charges against uster will be dropped and that will be disgusting. | | | | | | |

| | The minute I heard and read about this in the news and watched the special on TV it shouted set-up all the way. Why would you want to punish someone that tracked down, and brought to Justice a serial rapist like Luster, is beyound my comprehention. | | | | | | |

| | I think its ridiculous that he is facing any kind of charges for getting Luster off the streets. I don't understand why we're listening to Mexico either since they were harboring a fugitive. The last I heard they were trying to work out a deal with Mexico to pay them money instead of jail time. I wonder if that's what it's all about (money). | | | | | | |

| | This whole case is WRONG! He got a terriable man off the streets NOW they want to charge him for doing the right thing? Mexico needs to back off and I think it is SAD that the President of the US is NOT doing anything about this! This is terriable and just shows that america cares nothing aobut people who do GOOD! They would rather side with mexico who all of their people are in OUR Counrty Illegally! Maybe the mexico goverment should get off their butt and do something about ALL of those people that the USA Has to take care now and give them FREE medical dental food etc. This is the biggest BS case! | | | | | | |
