Telemarketing - a nuisance? |
|
What do you think of telemarketing? is it a nuisance? They call you at your home phone and try to sell you something that you dont need. I always get these calls and try to avoid them and in the process I end up missing important calls too. an article about this.. http://www.cbc.ca/news/ba... been an overwhelming success and eyed as a model for Canada. In the months after the American Federal Communications Commission established it's "do not call" registry in October 2003, 60 million people signed up, eager to prevent most telemarketers from contacting them at home. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission program was designed to block about 80 per cent of telemarketing calls. Consumers register the number – home or cellphone – they want protected"

iloveit (243) | 2 years ago | yes I can understand that some people on the phone would reply rudely to the caller and it could be that they are in the middle of something on a peaceful weekend day and are disturbed by the call or were expecting some important call but now are stuck and the caller wont hangup (or giveup selling whatever he is). DNC should have been created long back but does it really work? I subscribed to it and still getting calls.

2. kgwat70 (10058) | 2 years ago | I hate telemarketing calls but ever since I got rid of my landline phone I have not had that problem. They always seem to find a way to get someones phone number. Spam is also very annoying too and both should be illegal.

5. zeeshan123 (166) | 2 years ago | these calls are not always annoying... why are people afraid of even attending these calls, if you dont want what they are selling or talking about you can always hang up and ask them to not to call back again and they obviously wont cuz they dont want to waste their time.... the only thing i noticed is people are stupid enough that they think if they are going to attend these calls they are going to be fooled by the telemarketer... BE SMART, you should atleast have guts to talk to anyone, and if its something good u should go for it... but people are usually not confident upon theirselves and they think once they pick up the phone they are going to be fooled.

6. Jemmifire (3431) | 2 years ago | I've put my number on the do not call list so many times it's not funny!! I STILL get calls. One company called me like 17 times a day no lie, trying to sell life insurance. I declined politely at first, then I said add me on your do not call list, then I started telling them off then I changed my number! #$#@$#@#$@#

| 9. neomarx (8) | 2 years ago | i, for one, don't think telemarketing is an actual nuisance, or at least in a technical manner of speaking, you know. for one thing, it creates industries, and thus employment opportunities become available to people who are living in countries with a high-enough unemployment rate that causes them to either starve to death, or become criminals. you see, companies that earn big bucks pay these telemarketing companies to not only sell their products in suh a direct marketing system, but advertise their products and services in a more efficient and cost-efective manner. and, the profits that these companies rake in from suh a direct marketing system is then shared not only to the telemarketing firms, but with the people that work for such companies, and some of the profits are then turned into government services for the people because the profits of these telemarketing companies are also taxed in the process. now don't you think capitalist efficiency, when used wisely, would be the main tool for the utopian civilization as defined by karl marx?

| 10. tpramodkumar (30) | 2 years ago | Yes telemarketing is completely nuisance. In India the court has passed a law that telemarketer will have to pay Rs 25,000 per call if they make a call without consumers' consent. The consumer will have to go court.
