Knee Injury with other physical ailments? Help and advice

I injured my knee about a month ago walking down our set of stairs in our house. I had taken a step down on my right leg and I felt it twist, heard a loud pop and felt immediate pain. The swelling was severe at first but after about 2 weeks it went down. There was also horrible bruising plaguing most of the outter kneecap and behind my leg.
I went to the local emergency room and the 1st doctor told me there was most likely an injury to my lateral collateral ligament and was causing surface bleeding just under my skin (thus the horrible bruising) and told me to make an appointment with the local orthopedic, which I did. The orthopedic did absolutely nothing, he just gave me a brace to wear and said he was going to schedule for an MRI exam but I never heard back. I decided that I wanted my medical care to be handled at a military hospital (which I'm used to, and they know my entire medical history since I've been with them since I was 2 years old), which is two hours away from where I live.
I went there and my family doctor performed some physical tests and said he had three concerns, that I had torn my lateral meniscus, lateral collateral ligament, and ACL. So I did an x-ray. Now I'm waiting to hear back so I can do another MRI and another orthopedic through them. But here's my question:
The swelling and pain have nowhere near subsided. I was told the swelling was due to the fluids trying to heal the ACL but there are times I lose feeling in my foot and my foot swells to 2 or 3 times it's normal size, it turns purple and I have excruciating pain throughout my leg. I've also had spasms on my kneecap since the injury that they gave me muscle relaxers for. But lately, during my numbness/swelling/purple stage, I get stomach aches, headaches and nausea. Is there a chance these symptoms are all related? If not, what's causing the numbness/swelling/purple -ness if it's just healing fluids? I even take my brace off several times a day for long periods of time just to let my leg "breathe" but the pain increases everytime I do that. I'm at a loss of what else to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thats a lot of swelling. When I tore my ACL I didn't have that kind of swelling. To me, a lay man, the numbness in your foot might mean you could have damaged nerves in your knee. But the swelling in your ankle could mean you might have injured both your ankle and knee.
Are you going to have reconstructive surgery on your ACL? The ACL almost always DOES NOT heal itself since it has no blood supply.

I had injured my ACL and had reconstruction surgery. When it was bruised and torn, the orthopedist took a huge needle, to see if it was a bruise or a tear. So he numbed the area, and he said that if it were just sprained the swelling liquid would come out yellow, if it was torn it would come out red...well my dad was with me and he had me look away. He said he saw about a pinky tip worth of yellow and the rest was ALL RED...so I had definitely TORN my ACL, they did an MRI and all this was done within 2 weeks...I was scheduled for surgery after that...The draining that he did relieved a lot of pressure. Sounds like you need your knee drained of the fluid...I would go into your doctor and tell him what is going on...it is not good to have that kind of pain, you have too much fluid in your knee and it has no where to go but down

i think u should apply now heat and ice to ur knee and don't put weight on it u should give it rest becaues knee is the most important part in bending and sitting. So just keep it at rest and consult an orthopedist and neurologist as this numbness i.e. loss of sensation can be dut to some nerve injury. Eat a lot of vegetables fresh and seasonal fruits ...contact for queries meshu20003@yahoo.co.in

Well you're in the best place now, however the knee injury sounds bad. I only know from football (soccer) and any footballer will shudder at the word "ACL".
Get lots of rest in, and pester the hospitals like made.
