|  I hate arguments that start because one person used a word another person took exception to.
Example 1: One day I talked about my husband's dr appointment and used the word injection. He wasn't getting an injection that time and kept on saying the same thing over and over. I knew he wasn't getting an injection to start with (sometimes he does) and boy did I regret that word coming out of my mouth. Finally he said you just won't let that go will you? He was the one who kept on me about it, I had let it go.
#2 wasn't an argument, but was an odd situation.
I went to the p.o. to pick up a package because the USPS website said that it was at the p.o. I used the word delivered and the two clerks took exception to it that I said it said delivered. I tried to be polite and state that what I meant was the USPS website said it was at the post office, which it was.
Am i the only one who has these problems?

| |  I think people are sometimes too sensitive about the words you choose to explain something, Ive also experienced what you mention, I accidentally use a incorrect word or term a few times at work and people would take offense. On the other habd once that had happened I am definately more aware of my choice of words ...

| |  yes i also have problems with this. and i hate it when people look at you stupidly for it. it just makes me feel like telling them, "i'm sure you have used the wrong words at one time, everyone makes mistakes you jerk."

some people are just annoyng!
maybe they were havin a bad day and u gave them the perfect excuse to let out some of their frustruactions by being funny with u.
so really you are a hero, thats the only way you should think of it! lol

| | Hmm.. well those examples ARE kinf of over the top. I mean, especially the post office. It was delivered, it was delivered there, they had taken delivery of it.. so what was their problem? i think they were just being smart alecks.
I don't often run into a problem like that from my end.. but my husband! Oh my! The thing is he's so busy cursing and swearing he can't be bothered to use proper words or learn how to implement them..
Lets get some of them apples.
Unthaw some meat
oh and.. shudder...
Sammich! want a sammich? What would you like on your SAMMICH! Arrgghh!
I mever correct him though because then it will just turn into..
some of them F'in apples
unthaw some f'in meat
and a
F'in sammich!

| |  This reminds me of my teenage step-daughter. She often uses words incorrectly, but to hear them come out of her mouth in such a way is so funny at times. For instance; during a discussion of burial vs. cremation, she once stated that even if she's horribly "mutated" she still would not want to be cremated. She makes very good grades in school (3.75 avg), but some of the things she says is too funny to correct. I could probably write a book and get rich, but she's begged me not to. You just gotta love her.

| |  I have this problem a lot-I realize that many commonly used words are used incorrectly or with a different intent than the way I use them, and often people misinterpret what I say. I have to choose my words carefully a lot, it seems!
