it's good to reach for something better. we all work hard in life and we deserve to reach our heart's desires. however, it's hard when you're a perfectionist since nothing in this world is perfect. there will always be flaws at some point. if you're a perfectionist, you'll end up worrying more. so it's better to have an open mind and accept the fact that not all results to what you really want.

maayong adlaw sab. (good day, too)lol
anyway, it's always best if we set goals, aims and ideals in life. we always aim for excellence. but that's not perfection i guess. it's looking forward to what we want. perfection is reaching something without any flaw on the matter whether before reaching the goal, when you reached it and while you're enjoying it. but somehow, something always goes somewhere. ingat!(take care)

well, can be.. however, a perfectionist should also accept facts of failures.

I started out my life living with a mother who is a total perfectionist. I never did anything well enough and I still don't in her estimation. Nothing in her house can be messed up or moved the slightest bit. Wastebaskets aren't used because they might get dirty. No friends could come over because they'd mess the place up. My TV chair was a swivel rocker which had to be left just exactly so when I was done using it, even if I was just going to the restroom.
Believe me, I've never wanted to be a perfectionist after living like that. My house is always clean and neat, but when the kids were home they could do what they wanted and have friends over any time they wanted. Sure, things got dirty and some things were even broken, but now those aren't the things I remember. I remember how much fun we all used to have. I'd rather have my children remember that than the way I remember things with my mother.

i love that sharing sbeauty! i remember the same case when i was a kid, but my playmates'. my playmates enjoyed coming over to our house primarily because we can play with my toys and have fun. their parents, sadly, were like your mom - their dolls and trucks were kept in a display cabinet, the living room should be kept tidy (if possible no one should sit and stay there, urgh), and nothing can be touched. i don't even remember being able to step inside their house except taking a peep during their birthday party which was even set outside at their lawn. that's really sad :(

There's nothing wrong with being a perfectionist...i have to admit that i'm a perfectionist when it comes to work, and i could feel that it may create a problem with my staff. i just dont understand why they cant be more consistent with their work and just submit it to me just for the sake of submitting. well, i know that sometimes they tend to think that i'm overdoing it and just want them to have a miserable time...at time, i really want to 'lower down' my expectations, but i cant force myself to do that! so, im being proud to be a perfectionist at work! and that's why my ex-boss used to say that im not very people orientated, but im more towards work orientated

I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with perfectionism!
There are areas that I am a perfectionist to the level of my partner saying it is OCD. I do not see it that way. If I am not going to do something to the best of my ability, then what is the point of doing it?
If someone askes me if I am a perfectionist, I will admit with pride that I am in some areas. If they are intending it as a negative, I will not let them effect me that way. I like who I am and I am not going to purposely mess something up that will bother me if they can not accept my ways.
If you are a perfectionist, then good for you! That just means you like to do things to the best of your ability! :)

I personally am a perfectionist and the smallest things will drive me crazy. However, I do agree that it is partially a negative quality. Sometimes, I can not get anything done because I get distracted trying to fix everything I feel is not right. Therefore, I have a hard time keeping up with housework, on a job, or even with things emotionally. It does tend to have a negative effect.
