Would you rather get free computer or office work training and get a job? Which would you prefer and why? I would rather get free computer training and office work training and get a job than stay home and sit around all day even though you will still be making money.

I am sure you do keep very busy at home with your family. I would still rather have the computer training for free, just in case something would happen where I would need to work. I like to work and it keeps me busy.

Yes, I do feel that companies should provide more free training. I am definitely sure you would make a great employee working from home and would do very well as well as many of the other stay at home mothers on here and out there.

I think more companies need to offer free training and set up for stay at home mothers. We have so much talent and drive, we would be a good employees!

That sounds like a good idea too as long as the work online money is good. When I was on disability years ago, I was making more money that way then my paycheck. :-)

When I was growing up, pride was still important. So, I would train myself and get a job rather than accept handouts for doing nothing.

I would rather work and earn my money as well. It would be too boring for me to stay home and do nothing. I was in this situation actually and I chose to get training and returned to the working world full time after a year on ssdi.

I'd go for the computer or office work training and get a job. I'll be making more money than social security disability would give me. And I love to have more money on my pockets.

I would rather get a job! I currently am a stay home mother but formerly I had a carrer. I decided to stay home with my kids because they are so young and there are so many of them. I need to ensure that I am here when I am needed. And when I was working 40+ hours a week, they were not seeing me much and I was missing so much of their lives! So, when they do get older, I will be returning to the office...I hope. Some employers see it as a negative when they see how long one has been out of work and then to tell them to raise my kids...you can hear the negative sigh. Sad, but true. So, I do hope to get back to work and would much rather be out there working than staying at home on my butt just wasteing my life away.

You are right that employers do see it as a negative when they see someone out of work for a while but they should ask you why and if you tell them it is to look after your kids they should be more willing to accept that and hire you. I agree that I would rather be working than staying home all the time and hope that you are able to get job again when your kids are grown up.

If I had a choice it would be to get a job. However the problem comes in not everyone has that choice. Some disabilities do not allow them to work, no matter what the job. It's sad but true. I wish though there were more free training facilities as well as more work at home jobs that are easily found. Ones that would allow people to set more of their own schedule so that way they can work around medications, limitations, etc. However those are few and far between.
