I think that it is easier to write in another language than to speak it, because when you write you do not get as self-conscious about mispronunciations. I can read and understand a lot of Spanish, and I can write simple sentences, but I am very self-conscious about speaking it.
Maybe it's just me.
What does everyone think? There are a lot of bilingual people on this site.

HI
I think your question is very interesting.
Personnally, I think it is easier to write than to speak. When you write you don't have to bother about the pronounciation or where to put the accent.
For instance, French is my mothertongue, but I am also now very fluent in English but at first - and because of how school teaches languages - when I was trying to speak I was very slow and very self-concious, but I also realized that, beyond trying to speak, understanding native speakers was even more difficult ...
Another exemple, being French helps me being able to read Spanish pretty easily but when it comes to speaking it, well, let's say last time i met a spanish person we spoke English !! lol
