Does anybody else have the cremains of a loved one with you, in an urn or perhaps in some other special object? My dad said that he wanted to be cremated and have his ashes scattered in his favorite national park. My sister and I intended on having his wishes granted, however we also wanted a small bit of him for ourselves. I asked him in the hospital if this would be ok, and he said sure. So that's what we did. We each have really beautiful Cloisonne style urns, in various shades of green, with beautiful flowers painted on them. (Imagine me flying across country after his memorial, with papers from a mortuary explaining what I have and why). It might seem weird to some, but it's nice to have a bit of my dad with me. The urn sits on top of my desk.

That sounds really sweet. :)
I know some people supposedly put ashes in capsules, and actually swallow them.

I have some of the cremains of my father. I had a necklace urn made. It is shaped like a heart with some of his cremains inside the heart. I don't wear it but I have it dated and his name on it. I also have a vial the mortuary gave me. I don't see anything wrong with this and I have never has any bad thing happen, if anything it keeps me closer to my dad.

You said it's not good. Do you mean that it is bad luck? Or maybe it brings in evil spirits or something?
