Trey Anastasio, formerly of the jam band Phish, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs in a town in upstate New York, near the Vermont border, early on Friday. He was pulled over by police after his car was spotted failing to keep to the right side of the road. When searching his car authorities found quantities of the painkillers hydrocodone and Percocet, plus the anti-anxiety drug Xanax, that was prescribed for someone else. It's a cliche to think of jam band musicians as be way-out, laid=back drug users, but maybe in this case, the shoe fits? Driving under the influence is not only dangerous but pretty dumb, especially if you've got quantities of drugs in your car!

It can also be very deserted out there. If he had gotten into an accident or driven off the road, who knows how long it could have taken for anyone to find out and send help.
