wearing trendy clothes

i have a lecturer in my college who doesnt allow us to wear casuals that is not even t-shirts and jeans not even simple casuals i dont understand why we cant say no to him too bcos he is the h.o.d do you think wearing trendy clothes hinders with our studies ?????????
does it effect our studies in any way
what do i do

Yes definitely. You are a lecturer. Lecturer means you must decent looking. If you are wearing t-shirts.. all that type means no student will respect you. You H.O.D is correct.
