Do I have a right to be pi$$ed off at my friend?   email this discussion to a friend?

my2babes (46) 6 years ago

So I have a friend whom I have known for many, many years. I asked her to be the maid of honor in my wedding. Her kids were my ring bearer and flower girl and her husband was a groomsman.
She did nothing for me, NOTHING! She did not plan my bachelorett party, she did not help with anything. My friend who lives states away tried to plan my party and helped as much as she could. I planned my own party, called people, etc. My husbands brother lives in another state and he could not make the bachelor party, but he sent one of the groomsmen money and a list of things to do for my husband. He took on the responsibility of the Best Man.
She did throw a shower for me but she just sat in her recliner the whole time with a sour look on her face. Her mother basically took over the shower because my friend just sat there and did not initiate anything.
I called her and asked her to help me with a couple Flower Arrangements nd she said she would come over and help. 1 week before the wedding and nothing. My cousin came from 2 hours away to help me with them. My friend only complained about how much $$ she had to fork out for the wedding, meaning her brides maid dress, flower girl dress, groomsman tux and ring bearer tux. Ok, the ring bearer tux was free so no charge. The brides maid dress was 3 pieces, a long skirt, a tank top and a little swearter that went over it. I chose these so they could be worn again, and everyone wore them again, including her. It was not over $100.00 and the groomsman tux was about $50.00.

I am sorry, but I am livid!! Am I wrong for holding a grudge against her for this?

I guess she shouldn't have agreed to do it if she was going to be that way. Did you talk to her about how you felt?

No, I have not, I just went on and tried to forget about it. It just really hurt me a lot. This happened some time ago but I still hold it against her. I know I need to forgive her, but dang, this was MY big day..
