Snakes in my West African Garden

Who can help ? i am a german nationality living in Ghana - West Africa and get badly treatened by all sorts of dangerous snakes my main problemes are my 2 kids and my dogs - ive lost allready a nice german boxer by a deadly snake bite . Are there any non poisonous chemicals available to drive the snakes away - even if some of them are dangerous i do not want to kill them, only if possible they should stay out of my garden and the whole house area. Who has a answer to my problem ?
