What kind of wood do you use to make a lance or a speer???

I'm 4 years late, but i know the answer to this one. The answer is simply: Lancewood. It's a kind of wood from the West Indies and is also used to make arrow-points not the arrow bodies themselves. I read that from Encyclopedia Britannica.
