Fire is not a state. Its a chemical reaction that emits heat and other types of electromagnetic light such as visible light and ultraviolet. The heat being in the infrared area of the spectrum. It reacts with the air around it which is why it appears to have a volume above the material. To define it more precisely physically, it is an exothermic chemical reaction.

Oh and just a note, there are 4 states of matter, liquid, solid, gas, and plasma. Plasma is basically a sea of charges. Metals behave like plasmas when subjected to radiation at very high frequencies.

Fire is a living, breathing, consuming creature. Its behaviour is altered by what it feeds on, it seeks more to consume if left unchecked. It has its own rules and goals and can team up with members like itself to cocnsume more.
