Can I play a Playstation 2 game on a Playstation 1 console?

unfortuantely you cant...but you can play some playstation 1 games on ps2...and I think you can play most ps1 and ps2 games on the playstaion 3...if I am wrong someone please let me know...if you feel like spending the money...invest in a ps3.

I think we should forget the game machine and invest in our computers we would have a much more functional machine

not at all they are different and shouldnt work completely and may cause breakage I think 2 plays 1 ok though so backward compatible

playstation2 games are on dvd and playstation 1 can only read cds, also the playstation is more powerful tham the first one though if it did worked, it would have burned up the console.
