Baby Girl or Baby Boy

Earlier parents/ spouses used to have preferences for a boy /girl. Nowadays this entire concept has got completely diluted. Every parent wants to give the best to his/her child no matter boy or girl. What do you think are the reasons for this change in attitude.

Nowadays when a lady is pregnant she hopes she is expecting a healthy baby. She doesn't mind if she has a baby boy or a baby girl. These days couples can use fairly reliable birth control. This enables them to be able to choose to have two children and space them out sensibly. Like a couple might have had a baby girl in 2008 and a baby boy in 2010. There would be a two year gap between their children. In the past a couple might have wanted a boy to help them when they are older. They might have had many children due to not have a reliable method of birth control. These days some ladies can sway the likely gender of their baby when they try to get pregnant.
