when somebody says that ur lifetime ambition is meaningless,what will u do?

i'm facing this situation.from my small age,i've wanted to become a scientist in mechanical engineering field and i'm presently doing it in a reputed university.but my seniors and family friends say that i should be doing MBA so that i can earn more.should i give priority to money or my ambition?
