1. Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe After seven years of marriage and two children, Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe called it quits on their marriage in October. The couple have two kids together, daugther Ava, 7, and son Deacon, 3. The rumor mills speculated for years that the relationship was in trouble, but they always denied the chatter. The word on the street is that Ryan may have had an innapropriate relationship with his co-star Abbie Cornish. While both Ryan and Abbie deny the affair, Reese knew the truth. 2. Sheryl Crow and Lance Armstrong Grammy Award Winning Sheryl Crow and champion cyclist Lance Armstrong seemed like the perfect couple. Sheryl supported Lance through his final Tour de France win and he supported her music career. After months of speculation, Sheryl and Lance announced in a joint statement on February 3 that they decided to call off the engagement. This would have been her first marriage and his second. Lance split from his wife Kristin in 2003 after 5 years of marriage and they share custody of Luke, 6, and twins Isabelle and Grace, 4. 3. Paul McCartney and Heather Mills Sir Paul McCartney and his wife Heather Mills officially separated in May and soon after started talking divorce. Legal experts speculated that HEather could walk away with a big chunk of the estimated $1.5 billion empire. Could that be what sparked all the dirty press? Reports of Heather being a gold-digger as well as graohic photos surfaced of her with one London Paper claiming that she spent the better part of her 20's working as a prostitue. Paul 63, and Heather, 38, duked it out through the media and it kept getting uglier. 4. Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson Actress Kate Hudson and Black Crowes rocker Chris Robinson parted ways in August after almost six years of marriage. Kate, 27, and Chris, 39, have 2-year-old son, Ryder Russell Robinson. These two had a quiet life until Owen Wilson came into the picture. The rumor mills alleged that Kate and Owen may have gotten a little too friendly while filming the movie, You, Me and Dupree. Kate and Owen vehemently denied the talk, but the photos proved otherwise. 5. Britney Spears and Kevin Federline Britney Spears, 25, filed for divorce from her husband Kevin Federline in October on the grounds of irreconcilable differences but I think that's just a Southern gal being polite. What she probably meant to say was, "I'm filing on the gournds that my bum of a husband, who had already impregnated and ditched another woman when he first met me, is basically useless. He can't hold own a real job, he smokes and drinks, and has quite the wandering eye." The good news is that K-Fed, 28, will most likely not contest Britney's request for custody of both boys, seeing as he isn't exactly father of the year material. 6. Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock After four very short months of marriage, Pamela Anderson filed for divorce from singer Kid Rock in November. "Pamela filed for divorce last week. It wasn't a happy Thanksgiving," Pam's rep, Tracy Nguyen told People Magazine. Pamela & Kid Rock (Real Name: Robert Richie) each filed their own divorce petitions, both claiming irreconcilable differences. Let's just hope she didn't make the same mistake as she did with husband Tommy Lee when she tattooed his name on her ring finger. 7. Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe Looks like the couples counseling didn't take because Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe filed for divorce in January. It was only a few months prior that Chad and Hilary decided to take some space to think things through. When an interviewer at the Golden Globes referred to Hilary as "single", she flipped out and said that she and Chad were working on their 8 year marriage. Not working hard enough, as the relationship is now coming to an end. Some feel that the breakup may have been a result of Hilary's star shining so much brighter than Chad's. Her career went through the roof, while his has been on the decline for years. 8. Carmen Electra and Dave Nacarro Carmen Electra and rocker Dave Navarro were married in November 2003 and chronicled it all on the 2004 MTV Reality show Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen and Dave. Surprisingly, the wacky but seemingly made for each other duo called it quits in July. This was the second marriage for Carmen and the thrid for Dave as she was briefly married to NBA star Dennis Rodman. Rumor mills smelled trouble with Carmen and Dave for months, but they continued to deny the allegations. Carmen even refuted early rumors saying, "We're fine! I'm not saying we have the perfect marriage or that we're the perfect couple, but we're pretty damn good." Things sure don't look soo good to me as the couple is now headed for divorce court. 9. Penelope Cruz and Matthew McConaughey In June, Penelope Cruz, 32, and Matthew McConaughey, 36, announced that they were "taking time off" as a couple. "Due to busy work schedules and time apart, they mutually decided four weeks ago that separating was the best thing to do at the time," according to a statement from the couple. Why did it take them four weeks to make the announcement? Were they waiting to see if Tom Cruise would take Penelope back? No chance of that as he was already swooning over his new baby with wife Katie Holmes. 10. Jude Law and Sienna Miller I admit that this one is No way shocking, but still relevant to the list nonetheless. Jude Law and Sienna Miller apparently split again in November. But wait - this time they said it's for good. How is that any different from the otehr 75 times that they broke up in 2006? Jude cheated on her with the nanny, Sienna cheated on him with just about every one of her co-stars from NY to London. These two clearly have issues and it's about time that they just ended this ridiculously volatile thing they've been calling a relationship.
