sifting for worms  |

|  I have had to keep my PC in safe mode for the last week, because in normal mode it keps restarting without warning. Sometimes it crashes on rebooting. Even in Sfe Mode, my anti virus software makes my machine restart yet again. I have tried to download Norton anti virus, but I cannot use it in safe mode.
It sounds like the symptoms of the blaster worm, except my PC restarts without warning at all. I have been looking in regedit ofr msblast or fils withthat name, and also for penis32, but none have come to light. If not blaster, then what could it be? How can I get the anti virus onNorton to do its job withut crashing my PC?
I also have a strange number of records in my Windows folder beginning with KB and a long string of numbers, purportedly about failed rebootings.
Any ideas on how to sort this out would be most welcome

| |  Use the restore disk that came with your computer to bring it back to default condition. It may not have one, then use the program they supplied in your all programs section.

| |  Many sites now offer a "Live Scan" that will scan your computer for viruses and eliminate them at the same time. Symantec.com offers one as do several others. Best of Luck!

| |  Do what Old buddy suggested here, about doing a Complete system restore to your Computer with the original systems disk that came with your Computer when you purchased it. This should Solve your problem as this would then make your Computer like New. Otherwise you will end up possibly crashing your Drive, etc. and then have to start over completely, or get a New computer.
