some tips for writing good poetry

I am an amateur poet and need help with my poems-writing new ones. What do u think is more important while writing poems-a deeper meaning or a good rhyme, coz rhyme too is important and gives a natural flow to the poetry. i mean where should we draw a line and compromise on the meaning to get the rhyming right?
