Learn to play guitar! The Basics  

I always want to help other people so i am starting my online guitar lessons.

So if you have free time and you want to learn something new this is something for you. Before i start i just want to say that i dont speak english, i am still learning it in school so if you dont understand something post comment and i ll try to explain it to you.
So its time to start our first lesson: THE Basics.

HOW AN ELECTRIC GUITAR WORKS?

Basically, an electric guitar transmits the sound of vibrating strings through the pickups to an amplifier, out of the speakers and to your ears.


PARTS OF GUITAR

If you want to play guitar firs you need to know the parts of guitar. You can see the parts on this picture.

We ll start from the top of guitar. I ll explain just few parts.

Tuning keys- we use them to tune the guitar.

Frets- every fret is equal to one tone. We can get guitar with 19,21,22,24 frets.

Fret marks- these marks are here to help us to find tone. Its some kind of visual help in start but after few months you wont need to look at marks. Marks are set on usually on this frets but it can be different. Frets with marks are:3,5,7,9,12,15,17,19,21,24.

Pickups- without this(and an amplifier) your electric guitar wont speak. A pickup is basically an electromagnet. Wire is wound around a permanent magnet made up of either solid or separate pole pieces, or both. The guitar string vibrates through the magnet s field, and an electrical current is sent through this wire and out to the amplifier. Bigger magnet better pickup output.
We have two types of pickups single coil and humbucker. Humbucker gives massive tone. Pickups are set in bridge, middle and neck position. Every position gives different tone.

Pickup switcher- with this little thing we choose which pickup will work. ALL PICKUPS CANNOT WORK IN SAME TIME. Only two pickups can work in same time(bridge and middle, middle and neck).

So now when we know the parts we can finally start playing!

What do we need to know so we can play song?
Well you need to know how to read music sheets or how to read TABS. Tabs are easy but if you want to be great player beside tabs you need to know to read notation. I ll show you how to read TABS.

When you see something like this:

you probably ask yourself: What the hell is this? Is this math?
These numbers are equal to frets, so when it says 8 you know that you need to play 8 fret on that string. 0 is when you play free string, without any fingers on it.
You ll probably say: "Oh, thats so easy", but the negative side of TAB is that you need to know the song. You need first to hear it. We ll talk about this negative side later, in next lesson where i ll show you how can you go behind this negative side and play every song.

And for the end, i ll tech you how to play on easy intro using the things you have just learned. This song is called Wake Me Up When September Ends(Green Day). Its quite simple to learn intro.
