Dog grooming.. Taking care of your friend  

I have taught my dog several commands and not to be entertaining or to compete, just to make the live with her easier and more comfortable for all of us. I am planning to go to a beginner obedience trainings class with her, to learn how to teach her the right way and to learn more "tricks". I belive that if you don't go to dog training with your dog you don't need to do it at all, because most likely your dog won't listen to you but only to the trainer. Dogs don't generalize so they have to sort of relearn things everytime a new person works with them. Like I said I have tought my dog several commands like sit, lay down, stay etc. and it is not so much patience that you need but the knowledge how to teach your dog certain behaviors.

Why waste the money and time of putting them in a school when you could just train them yourself. It's not that hard if you start with them from when they are a puppy. It took me ten minutes to teach my dog how to sit, and about 5 minutes to teach her how to give me her paw. My boyfriend taught his dog how to sit, give his paw then give his other paw, how to speak ( he barks when you tell him to speak), how to chase his tail, and many other things he knows and my boyfriend trained the dog himself and it didn't take much time neither.

What are you wanting to compete in confronmation or obedence ?
I really suject people go to a experenced person if they want to show there dog in either .Training for competition is alot different and harder then just training a dog for every day life .The dog in obedence is judged on many things including doing things to a certain way simply walking on a lose leash for example would not pass it has to walk perfectly at the heel position .At sit it has to sit a certain way .It is not that easy to train a dog for this don't get me wrong you can but knowing what the judge wants is a key factor in training to win if you don't know that your losing the battle before you start . You might can learn these things from books and watching dog shows but it well take alot longer .
If you mean conformation dogs have to be presented certain ways and groomed certain ways again better to get knowledge from a experenced person then learn the hard way .

My dog does several "tricks" and he does the sit, stay, roll over,come, go, up and down. He was very easy to train . The key here is having the time to work with the dog. Be sure to use the same word commands ever time for the same command. Like if you use "SIT" then say "STAY" he may not understand. Be sure to use the same word frazes each time.
