Please forgive me for being ignorant about the sport of cricket and if I get some terminology wrong. I've seen many discussions here regarding it and I've seen it played on TV though it is not that prevelant a sport in the US and I am very unfamiliar with how it is played and the rules of the game. I have a very basic understanding of cricket and there are a lot of similarities to baseball in which I am very familiar with. What I know is that a game consists of 2 teams with elevens player, they play innings and switch sides. What I can't follow is how a run is scored, how many innings are played, and how to record an out. Also, is the game played until a team scores a certain amount of runs, or time runs out, or a certain number of innings are played? I've searched various websites for the rules of the game but like I said, I am not familiar with the terminology so most of what was said made no sense to me. Can anyone explainto me in simplistic terms what and how cricket is played?....thank you

Well watch the games, because the rules cannot be described in such a little place

I have watched cricket games before and I still don't have a good understanding of how it is played. Unfortunately cricket is not televised frequently in the US so I don't have the chance to watch and learn at will. Thanks for the post.

I'm just revisiting this comment because I've watched a handful of games since I posted this question and think that I have an understanding of the game but it still seems a little difficult to understand. Like, how do you get an out? How many outs do you get per inning (if there are innings).
