| | Check the settings on the router and does the computer that is wired to the router get internet? If not then check to make sure that the router is set to have the DHCP server on and that it is set to have a dynamic IP address and not a static one. Assuming this is for a cable connection. | | | | | | |

| | I had the same problem when I first set mine up. I have cable as my internet provider. I had to connect the router to my cable modem. Then connect the cable modem to my first pc. After I did this I was able to surf the internet with my laptop with its own wireless adaptor. | | | | | | |

| | Is your router ALSO the access point for your wireless network? Most routers are NOT access points. If it is, try reseting the configuration of the router to defaults. If it still doesn't work, try assigning static IPs instead of dynamic ones. If your isn't an access point, you should go get one and connect that into the router thru a network cable. Your wireless USB adapter will then get its connection from the access point, not from the router. =) | | | | | | |

| | try manually assigning your IP and gateway: Control Panel > Network Connections > right click the wireless connection name > Properties > scroll the box in the middle down to TCP/IP - highlight click the properties box just below it > change Obtain Automatic to Use the following enter the IP (if your router is 192.168 then assign something within that range) the subnet should be 255.255.255.0 and gateway will be the IP of your router (probably 192.168.0.1). If that doesn't help, switch back to auto obtaining and try this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926431 | | | | | | |
