I'm quitting smoking next week!

I've been part of a study at UP for smoking cessation. I've been smoking since I was 14 (I'm 35 now)--I've tried hypnosis twice and quit cold turkey for about 5 years, but I keep going back. The drug they have me on is called Celexa and I quit during the first part of the study, but now we're in phase three and I took the first pill today. I need some support!

I just noticed that it's been a year since this discussion was started and I wondered how you are doing. I know that most people try several times to quit before they actually do. So, did the medicine work? If not, I hope you keep trying because I think it will really un-burden your life and keep you healthy.

Chantix really does work! It worked for me, except that I let my best friend get me started again (so smoking for me is not so much physical as psychological)! I'm hoping that when I move, by not having that regular influence, I'll be able to quit again. I've actually tried quite a few times--cold turkey (successful for five plus years!) a number of times, hynopsis twice (need to activate better triggers for me!), and Chantix twice (I still had meds left from before, but not enough to fully make me quit). I'll have to try again after I move.
