What are your views on deciding your child should have surgery to stunt their growth so that they are easier for YOU to take care of as they get older? What do you think about this?? I think its absurd!

I say that isnt right, Thats my thoughts on it though. I think that you shouldnt stunt their growth since their disabled... Let them be who they are, You always will beable to find a way to take care of them some how... No reason to make them undergo surgery and still have a chance of a hard time taking care of them.

That's not right. Why would anybody ever think of doing that. To me that's abuse. Just because the child's disabled you should alter their gentic makeup.

I think it is cruel and selffish for a parent to do this to their disabled child.this child should be able to grow even if she is disabled she has had so much taken away from her and they shouldn't of taken this away from this poor girl.they should of not got this surgery done on this girl so its easier on tem when she gets older this child has the right to be a women and go threw body changes even if she is disabled and bedridden.

this is one of the most screwed up things I have ever heard of....thye should have never been allowed to pursue such a thing if anyone else tried something like this people would of had the child taken out of their custody!

I have never actually heard of this surgery but it sort of runs into other things of have heard of like altering your childs DNA before they are born so that they are or are not born with a certain disability. it sounds crazy but it is happening. i read in the news paper of (i will use the word dwarf because i don't know any other term for it, sorry if i offend) they wanted to alter there unborn childs DNA so that she would be born a Dwarf like them. I find this absurd and this should not happen.

I read the news story about this, and have a hard time understanding how hard it was for the parents to take care of their daughter. I haven't quite made up my mind about it all, but this is a very extreme surgery to do in order to keep her from getting much taller. I don't think as a parent that I could do it, that's for sure.
