Took most of the day because I was multitasking, but it came out pretty good, even though I haven't done the test burn yet. I did a 50/50 beeswax/ paraffin so the candle is nice creamy pale yellow, I will get pix up tomorrow. Priming the wick went swmmingly, the presto double boiler/wax melt pot worked fine and I am feeling quite accomplished and figuring out how much wax to order to have LOTS on hand. The candle's wax seems nice, smooth and hard..probably due to the beeswax. It looks nice sitting on my casual altar. I am wondering. How long should I let it sit/cure/age before I try lighting it? It looks so nice that, as the first one I have done in years, I almost hate to burn it. So how long do I let it mellow out before I fire this puppy up? LOL!

With that mixture of waxes I'm really not sure, I'd say a few days to possibly a week to cure? Is there a fragrance in it?

I didn't put any fragrance in because its a trial to see where my problems might be. It is 50/50 beeswax with regular old paraffin from the grocery store. No additives, but it looks nice. I am a little concerned about the wick size, its probably too big. Luckily there is a nice sized candle supply place about a mile from here, so I can go get a roll of smaller wick if need be!

I'm anxious to hear how it burns and if it's scented strongly. I'm really picky about candles and tend to end up buying the more expensive ones because I love the scents but hate when you burn a candle and it doesn't really smell. Let me know how it all turns out and what you need to do! I used to make candles when I was a teenager! It would be something I could do again I'm sure and with microwaves now it's probably a lot easier! I'd love to hear more about it from you.
