Hi friends. New Year's eve, 2004, I was inspired to write a poem that captured my feelings and thoughts about my experiences during that year. Actually, I found it to be true each year thereafter as well. I entitled it:
YEAR END INVENTORY
After reviewing the year just past; Taking stock, in rare computation, Counting all things meaningful, I give you this brief summation.
There were things that I forgot And things that I misplaced. Some things from me were stolen, Other things soberly defaced.
There were times I did things wrong And times I did things right. Sometimes I made mistakes Other times, mere over-sights.
There were days I felt uplifted And days I felt despair. Some days I felt right jovial, Other days, I knelt in prayer.
My year was filled with burdens, Great trials and sorrows too. But I also experienced blessings, That helped to get me through.
Ailments, defeats and failures Came visiting now and then. But triumphs and successes Brought a balance, so, "Amen!"
Now, in tallying up my troubles, And listing my heavy loads; Cataloguing my year's problems And numbering bedlam episodes,
Calculating all my victories and All the pleasures I did enjoy; Totaling all the good and bad The surplus was “ great joy.” © 2004-2007
I love to read as well as write poetry as do many others. So please share your poem or poems describing your feelings, thoughts, or concerns about life in 2006.
