Is your Mylot profile page readable?

Mylot lets users do all kinds of design things with their proile pages--colors, backgrounds, etc. But some of these are looking as jumbled as Myspace pages!
I've checked out some profile pages but they are unreadable because the type color chosen doesn't show up on the background! The whole idea of having a profile page is for people to read it!
When you add new colors, designs, etc. to your profile, do you check to make sure people can actually read the type!

Mine is readable, because I didn't do anything too crazy with it aside from minor color changes, and I didn't even use any real wild colors. My page colors read very well against the text color as well - it annoys me when someone makes the text color too close to the background color - are they trying to send me to an eye doctor or something?

I noticed this too! Sometimes I'll find a good post and want to read more of theirs, but I can't read the headline or the mini intro! I like to keep mine simple!

There are some profiles that are so butt-ugly, I guess it's the "the more designs, colors, patterns, the cooler it looks!" Usually if I run across a profile and can't read it, I just skip that person's posts. No need to get eyestrain any more than I have to!

Very true, I don't understand why people care what colors it is! If it's hard to read it's not worth reading!

My profile page isn't very exciting. It's actually pretty basic and there isn't much information. I see that some people's profiles are decorated beautifully.

Yes, my page is legible. I have visited some home pages and it is impossible to read with the bold colors and light type. It would be a wise idea for each of us to check out our home pages to make sure that people can see what we are posting.
Thanks for allowing me to give my .02 worth.

Well, I changed mine because all that white is really hard on my eyes. And I fought really hard to try to find the right colors, so one is still able to read it. But I still do not think that I am satisfied.
There is even the wording under my avatar that I can not seem to change. The place where you can say a little about yourself. It is still black and I can't figure out how to change it. But beyond that part, I think my page is readable.
And I totally get what you are saying about comparing it to myspace pages. I have been to many where I have to highlight words to be able to read them.
I have come across some pages here where I can not see the numbers under the links to see all a person's discussion. So I have found that I am hightlighting to see there too.
If you like, you can check out my profile and tell me if you think mine is readable. I will not be upset if you think it is not...just because it is readable to me...does not make it readable to someone else.
Great discussion!!!

I have to say... any time I put in at MyLot I spend doing convos and thinking up discussions. Why waste your time making your pages pretty? LOL Just my thought. I know many enjoy it. That's kewl.

Even my profile is readable and I would not play with it and keep it simple but attractive. I have also seen many of the profiles which are not readable due to dark colour or dark template.

Yes... I think not only in mylot. many blogger (Non commercial) sometimes use unmatch color. For example use light blue in green background etc. So we must block the text before able to read it
I dont change my layout because my connection is very slow to do that. Beside, I choose basic color. Its easier to read ^^ lol

My profile page is totally readable. And I know exactly what it is that you are saying. It frustrates me so much when it is I go and look at a profile and I can't read what is written there because of the contrasting colours. The only way that some of it can be read is if you highlight the page. I really don't understand why people do that, after all a profile is there to be read as you said.
But why I'm on a rant I'll keep going *wink* It's not only the myLot profile pages that annoy me, it's websites that do the same thing. Font colours for text that are impossible to read with the background colour. So many websites I have come across lately are like that.
I seriously don't get it. The whole idea of a website (or profile page) is an exchange of information, whether it be selling something, giving information, a forum of a blog. Not too much information is going to get exchanged if it is I, and other people can't read what is written...
Okay, rant over now!!!!

I didn't edit my profile page. I leaved it as it is, though simple, its more readable that way. I also don't find anything wrong in customizing a profile, provided that a user won't over do it. I have viewed a couple of profiles and i must tell you that it hurts my eyes because of the color choice.
