Maybe I am just am overly proud father but I have been working with my son on using the bathroom during the night. He has always been upset whenever he has had an accident. It has surprisingly only happened three or four times, but he would cry and cry and cry whenever it happened. Tonight while I was here working on posting replies I hesrd his door open and he was calling for mommy. Well I am not mommy but I like to think I am a decent substitute when needed. Anyway he told me he needed to pee. I was so proud that he didn't just wet his bed, although I think he would have just cried until he woke one of us up but he just got up, told mommy he had to pee, then went to the bathroom. Am I just being an overly proud parent of is this as big an accomplishment as I think it is?

It IS an accomplishment!!! Congrats!!! Have you tried cutting off his fluid intake a couple hours before bed? This will limit the frequent need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night.
Did you praise him for waking? I think that is awesome that he woke up before wetting the bed! Just remember though, he will still have accidents. But I am sure being the loving dad you are, you already know this. :)

Oh I know he will still have the accidents, and yes I praised him over and over again. the Good thing is I am starting to think he is ready for a "Big Boy Bed". His accidents are less frequent than a blue moon. He has never soaked his bed. Regrettably I am not normally home when he goes to bed, I work second shift and don't normally get home till past two in the morning. Aside from a small drink before bed my wife cuts off his fluids about an hour and a half before bed.
