As I was saying earlier, a cook makes or breaks a restaurant. There's an Outback near me, and the steak is delicious. Juicy and tender. There was one back in Boston and it was awful - dry and tough meat. So it more depends on the cook. Hopefully the cook that made your meal won't be there for long!
Try going on a different day and at a different time. Sometimes that makes a huge difference.

Thanks for the tip. I had considered the cook but my husband's steak was perfect. I didn't ask them to recook it b/c we were in a hurry.

I absolutely LOVE Outback, so if you were not happy with your steak, you should send it back. They will make it to your perfection! Definitely try it again and sometimes the service is a little slow, but in our area, it's because they are sooooo busy!

I ate there once and it was so good, yummmy!! If your steak was dry you should have sent it back and had them cook you another one. For what they charge you should have made sure you were happy with it. My steak came out perfect. Was the steak overcooked? That will make a steak to dry.

The Outback Steakhouse in my city is always crowded and service is slow. The steaks are fine, but the wait is to long, so would rather eat somewhere else. Black Angus costs about the same and service is better in my area.

Outback used to be THE place to go for my family. Every birthday or special occasion would find us celebrating at Outback. But in the last couple of years, we have noticed it's going downhill. First they raised their prices, then the portions got smaller, service wasn't so good, and food wasn't always cooked right. Then they raised their prices and the portions got smaller. They still offered free refills on drinks and all the bread you could eat, but you had to keep asking, and asking, and asking. The portions were smaller and the service wasn't so good. See the pattern?
If the steak wasn't cooked right you should have sent it back. Since you mentioned you were in a hurry and didn't have time to do that, you can always follow up with a letter to the manager or corporate office, you can even send an email. I did this after a particularly bad experience there and they sent me vouchers for the cost of the meal. We used them, but haven't been back since.

Just an update since my daughter and I went there again tonight for our combined birthday dinner (our birthdays are only 3 days apart.)
First the waiter didn't know if they had apple juice for the kids. Then I ordered my meal with the vegetables but asked for broccoli and snow peas only as I don't care for the cooked carrots and squash. I order this every time and it is never a problem. Until tonight when he brought my plate out with broccoli only. My daughter reminded him I ordered snow peas and he brought out a bowl of green beans. When she explained green beans are not snow peas he was quite puzzled and would have to check to "see if we can do that." Finally he brought out a bowl of snow peas (for which I was charged ala cart 3.99) All of this could be written off as him being a new employee and of course I simply deducted the cost of the a la carte item from his tip.
But the kicker was, as I was reaching for the check to sign the credit card slip, a ROACH RAN ACROSS THE TABLE and up the wall. My three year old granddaughter saw it and went into near hysterics. Despite her screaming, several of the wait staff walked by our table and ignored my excuse-me's until I finally shouted out at the next employee "get a manager over here now."
A little girl who looked about 19 came to the table and introduced herself as the manager. Her only response was that it very upsetting and she would probably be on the table screaming if it had happened to her. She then said she would let someone know and see if they could get someone out this week to spray for bugs.
My poor granddaughter cried for most of the 30 minute ride home and is still talking about the incident an hour and a half later. Her father, who was at work when this happened, called and spoke to the manager, a man. He stated he was aware of the incidient but that we didn't talk to him, as though it was our fault his employee lied and said she was the manager. He did offer to send a coupon for a free meal -- as if we would ever eat there again -- but refused to just reverse the credit card charge. JACKA55

While I have not yet been to eat at an Outback Steakhouse, I have heard many good things about their atmosphere and their food. I am sorry that you had a bad experience, and hope that next time it is much better if you give it a go again! ^_^ I've always wanted to eat at one of these restaurants. Maybe I will go soon! ^_^
