This happened to me. Rourkela is an industrial town in the state of Orissa in india. I was undergoing training in the technical institute of Rourkela steel plant.Due to a controversy over a religious shrine, communal riots flared up. Lot of arson and looting was going on.Owing to this reason our classes were cancelled.Lckily, the transport system was in operation .buses were plying.I took a bus that takes me to my hostel. In the same bus my training officer was also traveling along with some other trainees. On the way, suddenly i have seen a ghastly scene.A man was beaten on his head with a heavy stone on his head. The man was lying in a pool of blood. without my knowledge I shouted ,'Stop the bus'. Though others were also seeing the incident ,none raised their voice. The bus came to a screeching halt. I got up and started running towards the bleeding man.Seeing me,some more trainees and my training officer followed me. We carried the man to the nearby security post and seen him to the hospital. I reached the hostel. In the evening, I heard some boys were talking about the incident in hushed tones.i understood from their talk that some anti social elements were searching for a man in checks t-shirt. My heart skipped a beat. I was the one wearing the checks t-shirt.The man who was seriously injured happened to be a man from the other community. these hoodlums thought I'm a sympathizer of the community.that's why I saved the man. I went to the hostel warden who was an ex-service man with a lion heart.I told him about the incident and the rumors that I heard from the boys. The kind warden has provided a shelter to me in his flat and warned me not to move until the dust is settled. This is the result of being courageous. But my spirits were not dampened. I continued with my habit of raising my voice against injustice wherever I'm confronted with such incidents. But with caution.
