Did I really need more beads?

I just did something I probably shouldn't have done. I went to one of those high end bead shops and bought more beads, even though I know full well I could get a better deal either on line or waiting for the Costa Mesa Gem Faire to roll around again.
But beads are like my candy store and I kind of lost my head.

You can never have enough. I always feel like a kid in a candy store when I walk into a craft store. There is an outstranding craft store near me called PAt Catans. It is like a craft super market. I am bad with yarn and fabric,I just went to Joanns and bought 20 skeisn of FunFur.

The Fun Fur has been on sale lately so you were probably wise to get it now. I remember when that was $5. a skein.

of course you needed them! you can never have enough beads, and why wait maybe months for some other source! I'm the same way every time i go to a craft section in a store. Good thing i don't work for one, or i'd never go home with a paycheck!!!...lol

Oh boy do I know what you mean Auburndreams. I feel like that too when I go into a bead store. You envision all the projects you could do with a certain bead/s. It is so much fun. I can spend hours in a store searching through beads for the perfect ones. I usually order mine online through, http://www.firemountaingems.com/galleryofdesigns/default.asp
You can never have too many beads, lol. I'd love you to post pictures of some of your projects on here, that would be great for those of us that also love to bead.

Oh, I can relate to that! Mind you, my addiction is usually yarn as opposed to beads, but I know just what you mean. Get me in a craft supplies store and look out! I can spend waaaaaay too much money in those places! Being a "starving student" really puts a kink in my budget, but I somehow manage to pick things up here any there anyway.
Enjoy your new beads! And be sure to post pictures of what you create. :)

I made myself sit down with my bead book and learn a new bead weaving technique tonight. I couldn't figure it out with seed beads so I had to switch to the larger beads. Once I had made a bracelet length with the bigger beads, I switched back to the smaller beads and got about 8" done before my concentration went bye-bye.
I'm pretty sure the pinkish beads I got today are sugilite. But like many beads stores, the stones weren't labeled and the cashier said, "Well, beads aren't really my passion. It's my friend's store." So no help there.
I also got 2 cabachons that look like tiger iron. And two faceted beads I'm pretty sure are a purple agate.
But as an impulse I bought these little copper pieces shaped like butterflies they had on sale for a quarter each. I only got 4 because I couldn't think of anything to make out of them. Then I got home and wished I'd bought 20 because they are perfect for a headpiece concept I had but haven't been able to do the lost wax casting for.
Now that I've caught bead fever, my boyfriend wants to take me to another bead store tomorrow. It's a cottage and every room is full of beads. I didn't have the heart to tell him that I was already way over budget. I think he's trying to make up for cancelling our trip to Quartzite tomorrow. But it's not his fault we were too sick to go camping in another state. It is his birthday though, so if he wants to go to a bead store, then I'm going too. Hopefully I won't lose my mind when I get there.

I cna only echo what everyone else has said - beads are like a lot of other things in life (ie chocolate, shoes, bags, make-up, money etc), there isn't such a s thing as having too many/too much! Even though i've all but given up jewellery making now i still find myself drawn to pretty beads. They're just so hard to resist!
