Pizza Patron accepts the Mexican Peso as pay, gets death threats from racists

For those who haven't yet heard the story, Pizza Patron is accepting Mexican pesos as pay in a special they are running right now. PP has locations in San Diego, Arizona, Texas and Colorado among other states that I forgot at the time, and specializes in Mexican pizza. It has a clientele that is around 60 percent Mexican. Anyways, because of the peso special, they are recieving death threats from those who believe that it's being too nice to illegal immigrants - or so they want us to think, but give me a break, they're racist as hell. They wouldn't be complaining if a restaurant were accepting Canadian dollars, or if a sushi bar accepted Japanese yen. Someone tell the racists to get back into their motorhomes and drive off into the river. We seriously have bigger fish to fry than what we think about a random pizza place accepting pesos. And heck, I'll admit it. I had never heard of the place before this. Now, I want to go there and try some of their Mexican pizza dishes. It sounds like a very interesting culinary experience. This controversy is only providing free promotion for them.

Jay Leno had a funny line the other night--fast food cashiers have enough trouble making correct change in dollars, how are they going to get it right in pesos?

Never heard of that story before but it makes me sick. Yeah those people need to get a reality check. there is no law saying you only have to buy and accept dollar. There are making a stink because it has to do with mexican. If it was canadian money or germany money, tehy wouldnt be complaining.

I don't think I could have said it better myself. We accept Canadian money all of the time. I am in a fairly small town, so I do not see much else. I hope this brings Pizza Patron lots of business. If they choose to go to the trouble of accepting foreign money and getting it converted to provide good service,to their customer base, then it is their business. Sounds like American ingenuity to me. They should think about the fact that that means the money is being spent state side and not being sent over the border, even if it is just the price of a pizza.

Well, that's just too bad. I think someone is being racist, alright. I thought whatever went on a private business wasn't anybody else's business. I think they need to leave them alone because they're making themselves look bad.
