have ants in my house HELP  

Once you get ants they are really hard to get rid of. The best thing you can do is call an exterminator.

Put a plate of food in the bath tub. When they're having their picnic, drown 'em. No, don't really. That gets you bad karma points in Buddha's book. They are beautiful creatures of God, even if you can't see it. I've never had much luck talking to them and giving them an ultimatum. Some of my more new-agey friends do this, but it's never worked for me. It's testy. I don't know your answer, unless you simply don't care about whether they die or not. Then just call the Orkin man.

We've had this problem all summer if it's sweet ants then they won't go away till it freezes. We spray constantly but it will only kill one colony at a time.

Ants become a nuisance when they enter homes. Instead of spending money on costly pest control, you can get rid of ants by removing the food source and using soap water. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/mdhlm useful.

Mix boric acid with sugar and place it along the trail that the ants use to get in your house. The ants will pick up the sugar/acid mixture and take it back to the colony and it will eventually wipe them all out including the queen.

Please use care in placing this mixture. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

One of the reasons why ants will colonize a home is that their scouts have found a food source there. The other is that a fertilised queen probably found her way into your home.

DO you have a Dollar Tree nearby? Even a Walmart will do but $Tree is cheaper, we got some of those discs that come eithre 2-4 to a pack and placed them in the infested area. The killed them in no time. It's rare to find something so stinking cheap that actually works but it did. :-)
Also, some of that in-home spray for bugs, I always get the "safe" one to use around kids and pets but it works well too. Also I have heard that if you put chalk, the powdered kind, around the outside of your home, ant's don't like to cross that line. May be an old wive's tale, never really tried it.
Played w/ sidewalk chalk out front before and the ants crossed it so.........?
And a key note, if you have a big ant bed just on the outside of your home, chances are the area of the house there is infested w/ termites, might want to check it out. Ants eat termites, learned that in Orkin School lol

I feel u should take the help of a Pest controller. They can solve ur problems.

I have found these tips:


# Follow the trail of ants to determine where they are entering the home.
# Locate the hole(s), making sure that you've found them all.
# Apply Diatomaceous earth (available at most hardware stores) to the holes or cracks which the ants are using to enter the home. (Some baby powders contain Diatomaceous earth).
# Check to see that the ants are no longer using the hole.
# If they are, apply more baby powder and check the trail to be sure you found the right hole in step two.
# If the ants are no longer using the hole and they start to scramble around, you've broken the chain of ants leading from the colony into your home.
# The ants on either side will not cross the line of baby powder. Ants that come in contact with the powder will die almost immediately.
# Kill the remaining ants by sprinkling the baby powder on them. After they're dead, sweep away the ants and excess powder.

* Make sure to leave an adequate amount of baby powder around the entrance the ants have been using, so they don't return the next day.

* Try mixing baking soda and icing sugar in equal parts and leave it in small piles. Some people say this won't work, but keep at it and you'll see your ant population shrinking.

* A natural remedy for ant problems is to fill a spray with water and a few drops of peppermint essential oil. Spray this wherever you see ants,and they will soon go elsewhere.

* Another option is to leave piles of borax crystals around your property.

* For grassy areas, try adding 1/4 cup liquid dish washing soap (Dawn is the best) to a 5 gallon bucket of water. Fill the bucket half way then add the soap. Do this on the grass and about 4-6 feet uphill from the ant hole. Let the suds spill out as you fill the bucket. Once the bucket is full then you can slowly pour the soapy water (hold bucket about 6 inches off the ground while pouring) around the hole (no more than a 3 foot radius or you'll be too far out to saturate the ground well enough) working inwards toward the hole. Finishing off with some of the soapy water directly in the ant hill. This won't hurt the grass and when the ants breath in (to hold their breath because of the water) they get soap bubbles, which will block their air supply. You can use this soapy water technique for the breaks in sidewalks and cracks in driveways and other such areas.

* Once your house is ant free, there are simple money efficient ways to keep them out. Sprinkling coffee grounds (buy a cheap brand for this) around your house prevents ants from coming into your home, as they wont pass the grounds. Another easy way to keep them out is to soak a long piece of string in peppers or cinnamon.

* Planting mint plants along the side of your house will keep ants at bay.
