Well, Mylot paid me today, 39.50, and I was able to get a wig for my Lust cosplay. This wig, in particular: http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages/showimage.aspx?gid=148410&ppid=1122&image=30955981&images=30955981,30955995&formats=0,0&format=0 Has anyone else done any FMA cosplay? It's been pretty popular for a while now, and I always see plenty of FMA cosplayers when I go to conventions. I'd be interested in hearing who you've cosplayed and how you put the outfit together.

I didn't know there was any FMA cosplay in the US. In the New Orleans area I don't think there are any cosplay groups left. The main one before the hurricane was all midevial. I don't think FMA has a large following here. None of the gaming and/or card shops carry any FMA gear, cards, etc. which isn't cool becaue my husband loves FMA. That wig is beautiful! Definately worth what you paid for it.

I buy all of his FMA cards online through ebay. You can get a good deal on there. Six or so months ago Target, carried the cards but they were around $4 a pack. Now they don't carry then at all. I found a distributor through ebay and I got him two starter decks and 5 packs of the cards (all brand new, sealed) for $12 with shipping. Even if I could find the cards around here, I wouldn't buy them any other way.

Wow, that is a good deal! I do a lot of my anime shopping on Ebay, too. I mean, almost all my cosplay stuff comes from there! I did get my two started decks (the Lust deck and the Roy deck) at a con, but they were only 13$ a piece, so it wasn't bad. And Wal*mart has the cards for 1.99 a booster pack. I may look into ebay for them, though.

Oh yes, there's plenty of FMA cosplayers here in the US! :D It's very popular right now. uh, all the places around here carry tons of FMA stuff. I pick up my trading cards at the local Wal*Mart, actually. That stinks that your area doesn't have anything! :/ Thank you! I can't wait to get it!

thats cool. i've heard of it and my husband thinks it would be cool looking at everyone elses pictures. i think he's trying to find the right character he would fit. i told him, i'll only dress up for halloween because we have kids and don't have time to go to those anime conventions to do it. =( but i think it would be fun to dress up as chracters. we wanted to do inuyasha & kagome..but i'm sure thats been done. i haven't seen a lot of pictures of people doing FMA..i see a lot of Naruto though. i know if we ever decide to do it, we'll go all out...well, at least my husband will.

It's tons of fun. Especially in groups when everyone stays in character. You should take your kids! I have a friend who has three children, ages 2 - 7, and she dresses them up, too! They do whole family cosplays! :D

No, I have not heard of this but is it anything like the Ren Fair? It kind of shounds like it. At one time I had thought about the pioneering gig; but after meetingn some of the people in the group felt it wasn't the thing for me. I'm happy that you have found something that makes you happy. How often do you meet and where? Are your events open to the public with vendor boothes? ~Donna

It is kind of like Ren Fair, in a way. Basically they're anime and video game conventions. The main attractions are the dealer's room, with various vendors, and the guest panels. Voice actors, artists and designers usually come and hold discussion panels. And one of the biggest pastimes for those of us who attend is cosplay, which is basically 'costume play'. It's a tradition that started in Japan, where guests dress up as characters from their favorite series. It's a pretty big deal at this point, with masquerade balls and awards for costume construction and accuracy. The Arizona Cosplay Association meets about once a month. Members get together and share ideas for costumes, seewing and crafting tips, wig care tips, and help each other out with putting costumes together. I'm not a member, the meeting place is a three hour drive for me, but I know a lot of folks who are. I cosplay when I go to conventions, and I usually go to two or three a year. They're open for anyone, but there's a cover fee for the weekend. I love going because I can get hard to find merchandise directly from the dealers instead of having to import it from Japan.

Wow, I have never "met" a Full Metal Alchemist cosplayer, most of them are Naruto or Bleach cosplays. Maybe I'll make myself a FMA costume for fun once I get a break from work and college.
