What kind of strings do you prefer on your guitar? |
| |
| I was just wondering if I could get some input on different types of strings. I really like Ernie Ball, they last long and they're tough. I heard GHS Boomers were good for metal. | | | | | |

| | I use Super Slinky's but then again I haven't exactly tried 30 different brands. I play acoustic and they work just fine for me. I think for advice about a specific guitar string it's good to ask a knowledgeable person at a guitar store that is familiar with your type of guitar and the style you play the most. | | | | | | |

| | I usually use ernie balls, except for my warlock NJ speedloader, those need special strings from fender. | | | | | | |

| | Whats a speed loader? Does it increase the speed at which you can put a new string on? What are the special strings called, and could you offer a description? | | | |

| | haha I always leave my strings on there and they gradually start sounding more and more dead but you don't notice until you put new strings on because thoes Ernie Ball strings lasted so long and lost their sound gradually over more time then other strings. | | | |

| | I like ernie ball 'slinky top heavy bottom' for my electrics and elixirs for my acoustics. GHS Boomers are good, I think all around not just for metal. | | | | | | |

| | I use Elixir guitar strings for my Gibson Hummingbird. They are polyweb and repell dirt and grime between the winds in your strings which deaden the sound. I like them better than the Gibson factory strings which came on the guitar and Gibson strings aren't cheap. I also use the custom lights so it is easier to bend notes with a bass sound that still rings out. | | | | | | |

| | I've used Elixir before and they are quite impressive for keeping that alive and fresh tone. The strings feel a bit werid because of that coating they have, but they're still nice to play. | | | |

| | well i prefer some soft american strings, because they sound to much better, and also get bend easily, but not that much soft, semi soft u can say, because sounding is too good and,but if u wanna do metal so you have to buy hard one, that will be more good for metal rock and all! | | | | | | |

| | Yeah I prefer harder heavier strings. They seem to sound the best for metal. Also the heavier the strings, the better they handle lower tunnings. | | | |

| | Ernie Ball's really a tough one, but expensive to!;) I know use ROTOSOUND strings, it's quite durable and very flexible. If you want to know more about it, try to look for their website. I won't post it here for the sake of the discussion!;) | | | | | | |

| | I prefer elixir strings for my bass. If you can afford them, you should try their guitar strings. They have a coating on them which extends their life. The set on my bass have been on it for 7 years. The coating has worn off but they are still great. | | | | | | |
