Anyone seen this movie? I just watched it for the first time tonight. I have to admit that the technology used was amazing. I couldn't take my eyes away from the characters because of the cartoon like effect used. However, the story line seemed hard to follow.

I don't understand why they did it like that. I found it very distracting too. We only started watching it because we weren't in the mood for the distraction but the story seems really interesting. It'll be hard for me when we do watch it to ignore that weird cartoon crap. The technology is neat but unnessary.

But to make a long story short, I thought the movie was terrible.

Never heard about A Scanner Darkly before, thanks for this discussion.
There are quiet good reviews about A Scanner Darkly in imdb, I definitely going to see this film as I am a good fan of Robert Downey Jr. & Keanu Reeves ...

Scanner Darkly was an amazing film. Just done with such perfection. Keanu, along with the other actors was just brilliant in this role. The cartoon effect was gotten from rotoscoping. I really like animation, so was interested in this. Basically the story line is hard to follow. But when you get that Keanu's character was set up, it was almost a kind of betrayal in a way, how some are considered expendable for the needs, desires and wants of others in power. Very powerful film.
