I saw a survery of the top 100 cities in the US to live in. And then I saw a link for the top 10 best cities to live in. I was surprised! Especially since Colorado Springs was where some of the latest terrible weather has been falling! check it out...what do you think?

What was really cool was, that Texas had 10 of the top cities and my city of Amarillo was in the list!

Sure could imagine living there, snow is wonderful and I imagine they have great snow removal equipment. Middle of the country I could think of the beauty that surrounds that area. The people would be neat to, since they are mid-country and probably laid back!

Colorado Springs is a great place to live if you can handle being around some pretty cruel people.
They refused to accept that the citizens in Denver wished to have Gays protected from job discrimination and so their representative created a big snit over it. It was none of their business.
They have this huge enclave just as you enter the springs from the north, drving in from the Denver side, called Focus on the Family. They are part of the religious right, the people feel it is their right to tell everyone else how to live.
Obviously the folks who rated the cities have a different definition of "best city" than most of us in Denver. Whoever rated the place just looked at some pretty shallow indicators.

I guess it is on the list because of some places that are good to visit down there and not for the weather issue.

Wow, just reading some of the reactions here to Colorado Springs is crazy. I lived and worked there for 5 years and never met anybody in my whole life as nice as those people. I waited tables and made excellent money due to the generosity and friendliness of customers. The city is incredibly beautiful compared to a lot of other cities. I lived in Denver for 8 years and met some good people there too, don't know much about the gay problem, not really any of my business, but must say that out of the 6 states I've lived in, Colorado was by far the best. Expensive though!

I cannot believe that Colorado Springs is even on the top 10 best cities to live! I lived there for 10 years and hated it. It's like a big city population wise with a small town feel. Everybody feels the need to act religious since Focus on the Family is there. But the people are awful and fake! I've never met a more rude city than Colorado Springs. It's very pretty but that's about it. It doesn't have much to offer...unless you're retiring I guess.

I have never actually been to Colorado Springs, but this post caught my attention because my husband and I are about to move there! I'm surprised to see some really negative stuff about it, because so far everyone I've told that we're moving there has gone on about how jealous they are and how much they love it there! I think it's probably because of all the stuff to do around the area and the scenery and stuff.

I've lived in Colorado Springs for more than 30 years. Even though it has its faults (no city is perfect,) I enjoy it here. Yes, having winter weather during the beginning of spring makes me depressed sometimes, but I learned to appreciate it more after the state went through a drought a few years ago.
In addition to the religious organizations like Focus on the Family and New Life Church, Colorado Springs is home to several military bases, as well as the U.S. Olympic Training Center.
