Iron maiden have often incorporated ideas from other (famous) works in literature ,history and sometimes music.
for example :
the rhyme pf the ancient mariner (from the classic poem by colridge )
caught somewhere in time (the movie "somewhere in time" and a line in the song(time is always on my side) "borrowed" from the RollingStones )
seventh son of a seventh son (novel)
brave new world(novel ,movie)
the trooper (from an account of the charge of the light brigade)
alexander the great (history)
genghis khan (history)
to tame a land (originally called "dune" after the famous scifi series by herbert)
no more tears (shared a name with a very famous Ozie Osbourne song)
Quest for fire (from the name of a documentary/fiction movie about prehistoric people)
etc etc etc
the list goes on .
what is your opinion on this ?
# good
an artistic review of these works and events from a "METAL" view , bringing some aspects of the culture in these works to METAL fans .
# bad
they actually milk the sucess of movies, books ,songs by others and appropriate the success after adding some electric riffs !(indeed there have been some plagiarism claims and/or suits )
so which is it ?
