What age should a child learn to tie their shoes? Any idea the recc. age? My son is 5 and he can tell ME how to do it, now him doing it himself is another matter. KIDS!

With my kids I resisted all the velcro, slip-on and zipper shoes for SO long when Max was little and so he did learn to tie his own shoes around 4.5 yrs old I think. But ever since I've had Page I have given in to the convenience of easier shoes and I swear Page at age 10 can't even tie regular laces as well as he should be able to. :( I think at this age your son can probably learn to do it but it will just require giving him extra time to practice and do it on his own. That's hard to do sometimes -- atleast for em it is -- since we all live such busy lives. Eventually tho they will all learn to do it!
