|  Every day, every night, there is some post about smoking -- do you smoke. do you like to smoke, have you smoked, will you smoke, smoking is bad, smoking is good.... ahhhhhh! Can somebody please explain why this is such an interesting topic?

| |  Maybe it's because, as Bob Newhart observed, it really is absurd to pick leaves from a plant, roll them up in a piece of paper, stick it in your mouth, and light it ON FIRE.

| |  Ya used to it is right, after 33yrs, I feel like smoking is a pal. I know its killing me, but hay we all will die someday, somehow, right!! Ya I don't want to suffer, I've sean enough people suffer from smoking, as I was a nurses aid. If you all know how to quit, let me know, I've tried just about everything.

| | I guess i hadn't thought about it like that. Perhaps talking about it is like talking about an old friend for some people. I just was trying to figure out why a post that says something like -- Do U smoke -- gets so many responses. It just doesn't quite make sense to me.

| |  I've never understood it myself. I guess its like any drug, people that partake know its bad and it could kill them but they still do it. I'm not sure what the plus side to cigarettes is though. They're expensive and make you smell.

| |  Some people really do smoke all day and night. Many, upon waking up in the morning, will immediately get a stick of cigarette and smoke. This is usually the start of their day. When night comes, before they sleep they need to smoke a stick or two. Smoking can be really addictive. So for those non-smokers, please do not attempt to try it. Do not light even one stick of cigarette. Do not hook yourself to a very harmful habit.

I understand that. And I think almost everyone in teh world understands it. That's why it puzzles me so much that there would be so many posts on something that just about everyone knows everything about. Ask just about anyone and they'll tell you that smoking is bad. As someone who smokes, and they'll tell you the same thing -- end of story, or so it would seem, because the same ol' topic keeps shoeing up day after day and week after week.

| |  I think that a discussion started as "do you smoke?" or "what cigarettes do you smoke" gets a ton of responses because it's so easy to answer in less than a complete sentence. If people really wanted to discuss quitting smoking, I would support that and encourage that, being an ex-smoker myself. But there doesn't seem to be much interest in quitting- just in making money!
