Old School Prince or New Prince?  | |  If you have ever been to prince.org, then you have probably seen this question many times. Who all are die-hard 80s Prince and the Revolution fans and how many are new fans? How do you feel about his new style of totally clean lyrics and changing the lyrics to his old songs to fit his new beliefs? Does his new beliefs keep you from listening to his current music?

As a matter of fact, Some of his music,especially "I Can't Make You Love Me if you don't" Is what I play when I lay down to rest at night. It soothes my soul and relaxes that last nerve that somebody got on that day.

| | | 3. bachelorking (21) | 3 years ago |  I'm glad that Prince seems to be really happy and content personally, but I think his most intriguing music was made when he was still exploring the more secular (read: dirty) sides of the human animal. I still think he's making wonderful sounding music, but I have to admit that I felt a bit alienated sometime around "Rainbow Children." It's not that he wasn't speaking his truth or making great music, but, as I'm a white boy, it was the first time I felt he wasn't speaking directly to me. I also think he's lost an edginess I found very appealing, but if losing my ears is the price he pays for finding inner peace, I'm sure he has no regrets, nor should he.

I personally am an Old School Prince fan, though I really enjoy some of his 90s albums such as The Gold Experience. I have to say one of the best albums Prince put out was "Sign o' the Times." It is pure genius to me, maybe because most of it was done alone without his band and is such a mix of different styles.
So, does anyone get annoyed by Lovesexy and how it is all tracked as one huge song? | |

| | | 4. AyaMiami (87) | 3 years ago |  Starfish and coffee, maple syrup and jam....I think I like old school Prince moreso than the things he's done recently. It seems like the guitar was more prominent in the older songs. I have the urge to break out some cds now and listen.

I don't really care what his beliefs are (he's a Jehovah's Witness, right?) as long as he keeps putting out music......
